FT. LAUDERDALE, Fla. – There were more rain and lightning delays hampering the final day’s schedule during the USA Diving Zone B Championships taking place over the weekend.
Members of the Moss Farms Diving Tigers contingent had something akin to lightning in their leaps into the Ft. Lauderdale Aquatic Center pool Sunday.

Carson Tyler won Gold for the second day in a row, Bo Bridges was a mainstay for the No. 2 Silver spot on the 12-13 podium, and even Abigale White pulled off perhaps the dive of her life to surge up eight places in the final standings of a 14-15 event to qualify for the USA Nationals.
Diving Tigers coach John Fox said the kind of weather delays they experienced in south Florida both Saturday and Sunday created an interesting dynamic in this outdoor competition. Consistency, he said, is the key to success, and that gets tested when you have to wait longer than expected.
Moss Farms divers passed the test.
Tyler was 0.6 points away from sweeping all three events for 14-15 boys. After his winning efforts Saturday, Tyler breezed again Sunday claiming the 3-meter springboard with a 450 score (41.65 ahead of second place).
In nine rounds, Tyler won seven with three scores in the 60s. Also, in a 3.0 degree of difficulty (forward 2 1/2 somersault 1 twist pike), Tyler won with a 57.
Fox said, looking at all other Zone qualifiers across the nation, Tyler – runner-up in the 1-meter – looks to have the second-highest score going into the USA Nationals taking place at Georgia Tech in August. Zone B was, the coach said, Tyler’s best showing in competition.

Bridges was another Diving Tiger whom Fox said kept his composure and stayed “dialed in.” In 12-13 boys 3-meter Sunday, Bridges placed second (330), which means – like Tyler – he is not only a national qualifier, but will go straight to the semifinals.
In eight dives, Bridges won two rounds. He started things off with a 41.8 in a 1.9 degree of difficulty (forward 1 1/2 somersault tuck).
Ruth Anne McCranie also had a consistent time diving at Zone B. She placed fourth in 12-13 girls 1-meter springboard Sunday with 288.05. That was 0.85 from the Bronze as she continued to face numerous long-time rivals in her age group. Fox said as close as these divers are, it will make for an exciting run at Nationals.
Tyler, in the end, tied for third place out of all male divers in Zone B with 42 points. Bridges placed seventh, and all the males from Moultrie combined for the top score of all teams at 133.
McCranie placed fifth among females.
White was in the 14-15 girls 1-meter, and Fox said she was in 13th place with one more round remaining. White had a double-figure placing in the previous six dives, and for the finale it was a 2 1/2 somersault pike, carrying a 2.6 degree of difficulty.
Fox’s word was that White “smoked” it. She was third place overall in this round at 49.4, and it gave her a final score of 280.8, good enough for fifth.
Sky Geovanni’s only event at Zone B was the 16-18 boys platform Sunday. All but one of his dives had a 2.0 DD or better, and he came in second at 436.95. That included a 3.0 dive (forward 3 1/2 somersault pike), and he scored 51.
In all, Moss Farms’ team was fourth overall at 180. National qualifiers include White, Tyler, Bridges, McCranie, Timothy Fagan, Nolan Lewis, Jet and Sky Geovanni and Emily Ann Wolfson.
