DALTON, Ga. — Dalton will soon be running on Dunkin’.

Dunkin’ Donuts — known for its coffee, breakfast sandwiches and, of course, doughnuts — is building an 1,825-square-foot location at 300 Smith Industrial Blvd., near the intersection of the North Bypass and Glenwood Avenue. The restaurant will be next to the BB&T bank branch. The closest location to Whitfield County is currently in Calhoun.

The Dunkin’ Donuts store is across the street from another famous coffee brand, Starbucks, and joins a crowded fast food scene on Glenwood Avenue. There are a number of restaurants on that stretch of road, including Jack’s, which opened earlier this year.

Officials with Dunkin’ Donuts have not been able to say when the location will open or how many people it will employ. The estimated construction cost of the building is $375,000, according to a building permit filed with the Whitfield County Building Inspections office.

The company has more than 12,500 restaurants in 46 countries and is based in Canton, Mass.
