Two charged with burglary following pursuit

 Michael Edward Evans was charged with burglary.

O’BRIEN, Fla. — Two Lake City men are charged with burglary after being confronted by a homeowner and fleeing.

According to the Suwannee County Sheriff’s Office, a 911 call was received on Sunday morning from a homeowner in the 2700 block of 208th Street in southeastern Suwannee County.

The report states the homeowner was awakened by the sound of voices outside his bedroom window and then to the sound of someone breaking his window and removing the air conditioner.

According to the report, the homeowner confronted the men but they fled in a gold-colored SUV.

The report states that a deputy attempted to pull the vehicle over but the driver, identified as 35-year-old Steven Glenn Baisden, refused to stop. 

According to the report, after a brief pursuit, the vehicle pulled over and Baisden and passenger Michael Edward Evans, 48, of Lake City were taken into custody. 

According to the report, the suspects entered several vehicles and a storage shed on the property. 

The report states there were more than 100 items that were removed from the vehicles and shed which were placed into boxes, buckets and totes that were stacked into piles to facilitate quicker loading.

According to SCSO, the homeowner positively identified Baisden as one of the two men who fled his property. 

The report states both suspects allegedly admitted to being on the property with the intent to steal the items but were interrupted by the homeowner.

Baisden has been charged with burglary of an unoccupied structure, burglary of a dwelling, grand theft, driving while license suspended or revoked, fleeing and eluding law enforcement, possession of ammunition by a convicted felon and violation of probation.

Evans has been charged with burglary of an unoccupied structure.
