Trust involves accountability, transparency and oversight, Mayor pro tem Terry Scott said at the end of the meeting.

“However, it might be time to begin a true campaign to restore trust in your city council,” Scott, who is pastor of a Thomasville church, said.

Scott said his motto is “We will overcome.”

“We hear you,” he told an audience of about 125. “We will move forward to regain your confidence and trust.”

Quoting a Bible scripture and John F. Kennedy, Scott recalled a sign that said, “Thomasville Worth the Trip.”

He added, “That sign is no longer there.”

Scott said that as he looked at the audience, he saw concern for the city.

“We want to be the right leaders of Thomasville,” he said.

“Your attendance at these meetings has not gone unnoticed,” Scott told the audience.
