Auction to benefit teen who was seriously injured

DALTON, Ga. — A live auction fundraiser is Saturday, June 23, at 7 p.m. at Edwards Park to benefit Evan Elrod, a senior at Northwest Whitfield High School this past school year who was severely injured and paralyzed from the waist down after he was accidentally shot in the back in April. Organizers said 100 percent of the money raised through the auction will go toward Elrod’s medical bills and other expenses. The event also includes a raffle. Items being auctioned include an outdoor adventure rafting trip for six; golf outings from The Golf Club at Bradshaw Farms, Indian Trace Golf Course and more; a guided fishing trip for two; massages; photo shoots; and more. For more information, go to the Facebook page “Evan Elrod Auction June 23rd Edwards Park Dalton GA.”

Volunteers needed at Georgia Museum of Agriculture

TIFTON, Ga. — Searching for a new hobby to become more active in the Tifton community and an opportunity to share local history? The Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College Georgia Museum of Agriculture and Historic Village is seeking interested individuals to join its team of volunteers. Lynn McDonald, volunteer coordinator, said the museum needs volunteers during the week and on Saturday. Volunteers obtain recognition at the annual Volunteer Appreciation Celebration, earn extra passes to the museum for family and friends, receive 10 percent savings at the Country Store, access previews of new exhibits, and attend game night and special educational events. Museum staff members try to match volunteers with an area of interest to them. Interested persons looking for more information on volunteer opportunities may contact McDonald at 229-391-5223 or lmcdonald@abac.edu.
