MOULTRIE, Ga. — Colquitt Regional Medical Center recently welcomed Stewart Merdian as the vice president of physician services.
A native of Illinois, Merdian has more than 25 years of experience in healthcare operations and most recently served as a market director for Lifepoint Hospitals in Galax, Virginia.
In his new role, Merdian will be responsible for directing the operations of the Sterling Physician Group. The Sterling Physician Group manages 25 physician practices that are affiliated with Colquitt Regional. In addition, Merdian serves as a member of the hospital’s Senior Administrative Team.
“Stewart brings with him a wealth of knowledge about healthcare. He has worked in various roles for hospitals and clinics, and understands the challenges and opportunities that our physicians face in meeting the healthcare needs of our region,” said Colquitt Regional President and CEO Jim Matney. “There are a lot of changes happening in healthcare, and Stewart is well-equipped to help us meet them head on and bring visionary leadership to the Sterling Physician Group.”
Merdian and his wife, Patti, have two children, Stewart Jr., a student at Virginia Tech, and Nick, a fifth grader.
“Everyone has been so welcoming, from the hospital staff to the community at large,” said Merdian. “I’ve worked with a lot of physicians in my career, and from what I’ve seen thus far, the medical staff here is second to none. I’m ready to hit the ground running to make a positive impact for the Sterling Physician Group. One of my priorities will be encouraging strong partnerships with the community we serve.”
