Garden tour and dinner to raise funds for medical outreach ministry

DALTON, Ga. — The inaugural Dalton Garden Tour and Farmhouse Dinner is Saturday, June 9. This fundraiser is hosted by locally-owned Fiddleheads Garden Center and proceeds benefit Grace Medical Outreach Ministry. Dr. Wiley Smith from Grace Medical Outreach met with Sam Brown, owner of Fiddleheads, to discuss possibilities of a garden tour fundraiser and Brown offered his greenhouse to host a farmhouse dinner. The board members of Grace Medical Outreach are also organizing a silent auction which includes donated vacations, Dalton Utilities hunts, gift certificates, etc. Tickets include a self-guided tour of gardens on Oneonta Drive, Ella Lane and Greenwood Drive, and a farm-fresh meal served alfresco with live instrumental music at Fiddleheads. The tours begin at 4 p.m. and dinner is served at 6. Tickets are $50 and may be purchased at eventbrite.com by searching Dalton Garden Tour or by calling 706-226-6344. Grace Medical Outreach Ministry is a nonprofit organization serving Whitfield and Murray county residents who have a chronic medical condition and lack the means to travel or pay for the medical care they need. Canning plant won’t open on schedule

MOULTRIE, Ga. — The canning plant at Colquitt County High School will be closed this week due to boiler issues, according to Gene Hart, an official with the school system, which operates the plant. The plant initially opened for half-days May 21 and was expected to start full-time operation Monday. SOSMP hosting Mainstream Band, Kellen Vincent Band

LIVE OAK, Fla. — Lots of great country music is coming up this weekend with Mainstream Band on Friday night and an EP party with Kellen Vincent and his band and Tori Jackson on Saturday night at the Spirit of the Suwannee Music Park.

Mainstream Band, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, will take the stage Friday in the Music Hall. Mainstream Band has not only opened for national acts, but has headlined festivals such as The Ashburn/Turner County Fire Ant Festival and The Georgia Peanut Festival in Sylvester, Ga. This band plays Southern rock, rock n’ roll, classic rock, 50s-90s and today’s music with electrifying solos and dynamic duos. They play everything from The Eagles, Bon Jovi, Elvis, Luke Bryan and Jason Aldean to Blake Shelton and everything in between.
