DALTON, Ga. — Police are investigating after a Dalton woman was robbed by two gun-wielding men in front of her mother, her husband and the couple’s three small children in the driveway of their home Wednesday evening.
The robbery by two black males, who “smelled very strongly of marijuana,” according to an incident report, was captured on video at the home of Brittany and Joseph McEntire at 2112 Chatham Drive in the Windemere subdivision off of Haig Mill Lake Road. The men left in a white-colored, late-model Chevrolet Impala and a silver-colored Nissan Maxima. The incident occurred shortly after 8 p.m.
Brittany McEntire told police she had returned from Atlanta approximately five minutes before the robbery. With Brittany McEntire in the driveway unloading her car and with Joseph McEntire and Brittany’s mother Kim Cagle with the children in the garage, the men, wearing dark-colored, hooded sweatshirts, approached “very quickly” with handguns. The report said video showed the robbers “clearly have Brittany cornered inside the open right rear door of her vehicle.”
Responding to screams from Brittany McEntire as the men began grabbing her jewelry and demanding that she “give them items,” her husband and her mother came around different sides of the car, but both went back to the garage when the robbers pointed their weapons at them, with Joseph McEntire going to get a weapon.
In addition to the jewelry, the robbers got away with a large duffel bag containing “various items.” The report said the entire encounter took approximately 45 seconds.
Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact Detective John Edwards at (706) 278-9085, ext. 9152.
