We must move forward in pursuit of world peace

Our first national attempt to secure a peaceful world and organize its nations happened in 1919. Pres. Wilson sought U.S. Senate approval establishing a “League of Nations,” which was denied. The second occurrence “United Nations” was confirmed Dec. 1945 by a vote of 89 to 2 by the U.S. Senate.
This action substantially advances the cause of world peace. Acting Sect’y of State Joseph Grew noted “millions of men, women and children have died because nations took to the naked sword instead of the conference table to settle their differences.”
The timing for a third resolution is at hand, if we truthfully seek world peace. In the news presently we are confronted with three nations whose people suffer at the hand of despots, North Korea, Iran and Venezuela. Monday (5/28/18) the E. U. leaders called for a new pres. election in Venezuela – saying a levy of new sanctions targeting those close to Pres. Maduro.
“This is the European Union that arrogantly wants to put its nose in Venezuela’s business,” Maduro said. “Enough of this old colonialism. … Any more sanctions will only hurt Venezuelans.”
People like Maduro, Un (Korea), Atolloah (Iran) and Baby Doc (Haiti), they just don’t get it. Diogenes, an ancient Greek cynic, said, “Show me an honest man” etc. A righteous world would be a difficult environment for the unrighteous.
Baby Doc Duvalier, Haitian leader, charged with corruption fled to France in 1986 on a U.S. Air Force flight. On his return two decades later to Haiti — unexpectedly 16 Jan 2011 — was arrested on 18 Jan. 2011 by Haitian Police on corruption and human rights abuse. Baby Doc died 4 Oct. 2014 of a heart attack at age 63. This makes the U.S. guilty of assisting evasion of prosecution of Baby Doc.
Unlike “Diogenes the Cynic” I believe there are sufficient honest people who earnestly desire world peace and that it will be achieved.
