Colquitt High FFA chapter honored at area banquet

- The Colquitt County FFA chapter was named the Area V Outstanding High School Chapter during the area banquet May 14 in Tifton. Several members also received team or individual recognition.
MOULTRIE, Ga. — On May 14 the Colquitt County FFA Chapter traveled to Tifton to attend the Area V Banquet. FFA members were awarded for their accomplishments in various activities throughout the 2017-2018 school year.
The Colquitt County FFA Chapter won the Area V Outstanding High School Chapter Award. This award is given to the best chapter in Southwest Georgia that demonstrates success throughout the entire year.
Libba Johnson was awarded a blue sign for winning the Area V South Region Star in Ag Placement and Patti Mitchell was awarded a blue sign for winning the Area V South Region Star in Agriscience.
This past year Kirk Beacham served as Area V President for the 2017-2018 school year. Beacham also ran and was elected to serve as Area V Vice President for the upcoming 2018-2019 school year.
Presley Hamilton, Kaitlyn Hart, Logan Moore, and Mary Logan Tostenson were recognized for winning the Ag Sales CDE. Mary Logan Tostenson was also recognized for being the High Individual.
Victoria Barber, Patti Mitchell, and Mitchell Riley were recognized for winning the Area V Ag Marketing CDE.
John Vance Livingston was recognized for placing 2nd in the Tractor and Machinery Operations and Maintenance.
Kirk Beacham was recognized for winning the Lawnmower Operations and Maintenance CDE, Senior Prepared Public Speaking CDE, and EMC Wiring.
Mackenzie Blair, Amy Deariso, Caleb Hall, and Chase Willis were recognized for winning the Livestock Evaluation CDE. Caleb Hall was also recognized for being the High Individual.
Victoria Barber, Katelyn Croy, Amy Deariso, and Chase Willis were recognized for winning the Dairy Cattle Evaluation.
Kirk Beacham, Amber Murphy, Daniel Sellers, and Kaleb Spradley were recognized for placing 2nd in Ag Mechanics.
Mary Logan Tostenson was recognized for being an area finalist for the Discussion Meets CDE.
Vaidehi Patel was recognized for winning the Job Interview CDE.
Kirk Beacham, Libba Johnson, Logan Moore and Kaleb Spradley were recognized for placing 2nd in Farm Business Management CDE.
Kaitlyn Hart was recognized for winning the Floral Design CDE.
