Man charged with stealing paychecks

MOULTRIE, Ga. — A Moultrie man accused of stealing checks from his work place faces burglary and other charges.
On Wednesday, the Colquitt County Sheriff’s Office arrested Dennis Hightower as a suspect in the May 18 burglary at Williams Produce at 111 Cabbage Road.
“Seven employee paychecks that already had been made out payable to employees (were taken),” sheriff’s Sgt. Katrina Johnson said. “Surveillance video was provided of him entering and leaving the payroll office and leaving with the checks.”
Hightower also was captured on video cashing one of the checks at a convenience store on Camilla Highway, Johnson said.
Hightower, 52, 434 10th St. N.W., has been charged with burglary and forgery in the first degree.

• Consuelo Garcia, 100 block Tallokas Trail, reported Wednesday the theft of a backpack and Southern Tide rain jacket with a total value of $140 from a 2017 Ford F-150.
Burglary

• Lisa Johnson, 700 block Hurst Road, Hartsfield, reported Wednesday the theft of a tablet computer valued at $200.
Property damage
Sheriff’s Office
• Tanya Johnson, 100 block Ashen Court, reported Wednesday that her 2006 Nissan Maxima was damaged overnight.
Johnson told police that all four tires were cut, the fuel tank door and tag were bent and the back passenger door was dented.
