MOULTRIE, Ga. — The epic struggle between good and evil will come to life on stage in the musical phenomenon, “Jekyll & Hyde,” July 27-29.
Auditions are being held Tuesday, May 29, for roles in the performance.
Based on the classic story by Robert Louis Stevenson and featuring a thrilling score of pop rock hits from multi-Grammy- and Tony-nominated Frank Wildhorn and double-Oscar- and Grammy-winning Leslie Bricusse, “Jekyll & Hyde” has mesmerized audiences the world over.
An evocative tale of two men – one, a doctor, passionate and romantic; the other, a terrifying madman – and two women – one, beautiful and trusting; the other, beautiful and trusting only herself. Both women are in love with the same man and both unaware of his dark secret.
A devoted man of science, Dr. Henry Jekyll is driven to find a chemical breakthrough that can solve some of mankind’s most challenging medical dilemmas. Rebuffed by the powers that be, he decides to make himself the subject of his own experimental treatments, accidentally unleashing his inner demons along with the man that the world would come to know as Mr. Hyde.
This gothic musical is the perfect opportunity for male and female stars to showcase their abilities, according to a press release from the Colquitt County Arts Center.
“Jekyll & Hyde” offers great flexibility for cast size and use of ensemble and its powerful rock score will require strong, versatile singers.
The auditions will be held 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, May 29, at the Arts Center, 401 Seventh Ave. S.W., to cast the telling of this beautiful and haunting story.
Roles are open to ages 16 and up. Please come prepared with a song no more than 1 minute long and be prepared to cold read.
