MOULTRIE, Ga. — Summer reading isn’t just for kids anymore. The Moultrie Library will offer opportunities for children and adults to participate in Georgia’s collaborative reading program “Libraries Rock.”

All events are free and open to the public. Information and calendars for all events are available at the library in its temporary location at 225 S. Main St. and on the library’s website calendar on mccls.org. Events have also been posted to Moultrie’s Chamber of Commerce’s Community Calendar of events.

Adults are invited to “Rock with Us!” by participating in a timed reading challenge during the summer. The library is offering incentives for the time participants spend reading. We are not interested in how many books one reads but in the time spent enjoying reading. Participants can read books or magazines to themselves, read to others or just listen to a book. Stop by the library’s temporary location at 225 S. Main St. to pick up a reading log and detailed directions.

An Adult Movie and Trivia Night will be held 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 19. The first movie will be “Mama Mia.” There will be 25 seats available. Call or stop by the library to register.

“Let’s Paint Rocks” is an event planned for adults ages 16 and up on June 15 from 10 a.m. to noon. Join the fun. Paint a rock or two (bring your own; we’ll also have a few), then take it with you to hide somewhere during your travels for someone to find. That’s it! Wear clothes you can get paint on. All materials will be provided.

The 2nd Tuesday Brown Bag Book Club will meet Tuesday, June 12, at 11:30 a.m. at the Arts Center. The group reads books within a theme, and members are expected (not required, of course!) to read a book that fits that theme. It’s all right if you don’t read within that month’s theme, just come and share what you have read. Bring your own lunch or snack. Theme for June 2018: Oceans.

Library Crafters will meet on Tuesday, June 5, at 6 p.m. in the Library. The Craft for June is Leaf Print Stationery. This group is perfect for the casual crafter who enjoys doing something new each month. Activities are designed for adults but children third grade and up may attend with a parent. Each participant will be asked to pay a $5 fee for supplies. Reservations for each meeting are appreciated.

Every Monday beginning June 4 there will be special programing in partnership with the United Way, the Moultrie-Colquitt County Parks and Recreation Authority and the library. Please note locations for each program, as they will not take place in the library.
