Jerry Bernard Russell and Eleni Marie Vicks, both of Thomasville, were arrested after more than $20,000 was taken from a former employer, said Lt. Tim Watkins, Thomas County Sheriff’s Office chief investigator.

The business’ owners, Watkins said, found a “tremendous amount of void sales” compared to their other locations.

“They were noticing that food costs were out of tune with the other stores they have in the area,” Watkins said, adding the business uses the same vendor for each location.

The marked-out sales were spotted from an internal audit and video surveillance, the chief investigator added.

The investigation found one employee voiding sales since last July and another employee stamping out sales since January, according to Watkins.

Both suspects are charged with felony theft by taking, according to authorities.
