MOULTRIE, Ga. — Brandy Tran, a fourth grader at Hamilton Elementary School, turns Principal Krista Harrell into a sundae during a sundae party at Hamilton Elementary.
Students who read 20 non-fiction books and passed the Accelerated Reader test were treated to an ice cream sundae. The top readers in each grade were chosen to turn the media specialist, principal, and assistant principal into an ice cream sundae. The second grade students read the most books — 1,164 — so their teachers were turned into sundaes too.
Tran read and passed the Accelerated Reader test on 69 books, more than anyone else in the school. About 200 students were involved in the challenge, and they read a total of 3,383 books.
