Traffic signals

“I need a tutorial on the new yellow flashing arrows at the traffic lights.”

Mean spirited

“‘You chose the rental, nobody forced you to move in.’ That might be true but some people are in situations not entirely of their making and have to take what they can afford. That comment has a foul, mean spirited ring to it and says a lot about the writer.”

No less a person

“Excuse Me….I am not a renter by choice. I am not rich and educated like you but take offense to the fact that you think I am less of a person than you. Shame on you, Mr. Landlord. When that trumpet sounds, ‘We will all stand together!’ Hope you are ready!!!!”

Regulate landlords

“Landlords have a financial interest in property. They are not benefactors from on high sent to save us from government gone wild. Their hypocrisy doesn’t surprise me. If it can save a buck and they can get away with it, they will. If landlords could be trusted they wouldn’t have to be regulated. In this town, they certainly need it.”

Show up

“How can you turn off something that doesn’t work in the first place? The air conditioning at the Achievement Center has been broken and needs replacing. You are blaming the wrong person, start going to your Board of Education meetings to voice your concern. Start showing up, stop calling. Let them see your face. Stop complaining, show up.”

Do the right thing

“City, don’t let a couple of the landlords intimidate you! That is their goal. They want to scare you. If they were so great, why do you have to ask them to do the right thing?”

Economy

“The economy is robust and growing, with unemployment at 3.9 percent, the lowest since 2000. Manufacturing is up. The promised tax law is producing record revenues, despite cynics’ predictions to the contrary, and it has led to a wave of optimism throughout the business sector and widespread employee wage hikes and bonuses. More Trump campaign promises fulfilled.”

Not funny

“I’ve been watching the latest sitcoms. I see why children dislike them: they aren’t funny; sat through several shows last week, listened to the many scripted, carefully penned, non-funny lines and heard the usual canned laughter after each line. These shows would crash and burn if they were in front of live studio audiences the way 1970s comedy was.
