MOULTRIE, Ga. — A Moultrie man died Tuesday afternoon after a morning accident in which his motorcycle collided with a truck at an intersection that has been the site of several serious accidents in recent weeks.
Frank Roland Hett, 60, was pronounced dead at about 4 p.m. Tuesday at Archbold Memorial Hospital in Thomasville.
The accident occurred at about 8:20 a.m. Tuesday, according to Moultrie Police Department reports,.
Hett, who was on a 2012 Suzuki motorcycle on 31st Avenue, drove onto Veterans Parkway, striking a 2014 GMC Savana truck, police said.
Russell Alan Harrell, of Alapaha, who was driving the truck, told police that the driver pulled out in front of him. Harrell applied his brakes and tried to steer out of the way but was unable to avoid the collision.
The motorcycle struck the right passenger door and front corner of the container box on the panel truck, police said.
Witnesses were unable to tell police whether Hett had come to a full stop at the intersection.
On May 2 Julius Greene of Moultrie was involved at an accident at the same location.
Greene, driving a 1998 Chevrolet GMT, was trying to cross the south lane of traffic and turn left on Veterans Parkway heading north when the truck was struck by a 2016 Lincoln UT driven by Lisa Edele.
Edele, of Havana, Fla., was driving south on Veterans Parkway at the time.
