‘Gospel Jubilee’ music series starts up Saturday
CHATSWORTH, Ga. — The first concert in the summer music series called “Gospel Jubilee” sponsored by the Whitfield-Murray Historical Society is Saturday at the Chatsworth Depot at 5 p.m. The featured group is the Mount Carmel Trio. The depot will be open for tours during the afternoon prior to the concert. Other concerts are scheduled for June 9 and Aug. 11.
Tractor Supply spotlights local goods during Spring Market Day
LIVE OAK, Fla. — The Tractor Supply Company store in Live Oak is showcasing the talents of local craft makers, artisans and growers during its spring Market Day event Saturday.
Community members are invited to celebrate spring by shopping local, homemade and homegrown goods at the Live Oak Tractor Supply from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Crafters and growers will display their goods for sale in tented areas in front of the Tractor Supply store. Participating local vendors include:

• Erin Ducksworth
• Preen Acres Cat Sanctuary, Inc.
“Market Day allows us to provide a space for the Live Oak community to come together to shop local, support their neighbors, and highlight the incredible talent that’s right here in our own backyard,” said Richard Wynn, manager of the Live Oak Tractor Supply. “You never know what you might find at this one-day event — or how it might inspire your family’s next crafting or growing adventure.”

Georgia Christian recognizes Duke TIP students
DASHER, Ga. — Georgia Christian School recognized 2018 Duke TIP participants Neal Bussone, Reagan Lawson and Skylar Partin.The students participated in the seventh-grade talent search and took the SAT, according to school officials.Students qualify for the seventh-grade talent search by scoring at or above the 95th percentile on a grade-level standardized test. It is the same SAT that high school students take minus the essay. Partin scored high enough on the reading section of the test to be noted for recognition during the 2018 Duke TIP Georgia Recognition Ceremony scheduled for later in May at Georgia Southern University in Statesboro, according to school officials.
Traffic pattern changing on SR 133
MOULTRIE, Ga. — Use caution Thursday traveling on state Route 133 from Old Quitman Adel Road in Brooks County to County Road 256 in Colquitt County as lanes are scheduled to shift. Right now north and south traffic is all on one side, but will split Thursday. Drivers will have one lane open northbound and one lane open southbound. That pattern will continue to about Morven. Georgia Department of Transportation plans to widen/reconstruct about 66 miles of SR 133 from the Lowndes/Brooks county line to Dougherty County. Two portions are complete and three are under construction. The section from Old Quitman Adel Road in Brooks County to County Road 256 in Colquitt County is expected to be finished this summer. Work will continue in this area on the remaining lanes of traffic. Motorists are reminded to slow down when traveling through the work zone and remain alert for people and equipment.
Nanci Bowen Golf Tournament to benefit TRHS hospice, cancer patients
TIFTON, Ga. — The annual Nanci Bowen Charity Event will be held at the Spring Hill Country Club in Tifton on May 14. This golf tournament, benefiting the special needs of Tift Regional Health System (TRHS) hospice and cancer patients, is a four-man scramble, with a shotgun start is at 1 p.m. Interested participants can form a team or sign-up as a corporate sponsor. There are multiple sponsorship opportunities and the team fee is $400. A Tifton native, Bowen is a retired Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) tour player. She attended the University of Georgia on a full golf scholarship and joined the LPGA immediately after graduating in 1989 with an undergraduate degree in public relations. Bowen’s professional golf career was highlighted in 1995 with a win at the Nabisco Dinah Shore, one of the LPGA’s four major championships. Other notable achievements included two runner-up finishes in 1997 at the Rochester International and the Susan G. Komen International, plus numerous top 10 finishes at LPGA tournaments between 1994 and 2005. She started this annual golf tournament in Tifton 18 years ago. Dinner will be served and prizes awarded immediately following the tournament. Each player on the winning team will receive a two-night stay and one round of golf at The King and Prince resort hotel. There will also be second and third place prizes, a hole-in-one contest for a new car as well as a closest-to-the-pin and pink ball competitions.
