NORMAN PARK, Ga. — A Norman Park man accused of sexual abuse of a teen-age girl was arrested this week on child molestation and sodomy charges.

Franklin Shawn Sellers, 39, was charged Tuesday with four counts of child molestation, two counts of aggravated sodomy and one count of aggravated child molestation, according to Colquitt County Sheriff’s Office reports.

Sheriff’s Sgt. Ronald Jordan, seeking to protect the victim’s identity, said that the girl is in her early teens. Jordan did not want to give details about the incidents of which Sellers is accused.

A relative who became suspicious reported those concerns to authorities, he said.

“It was reported to the sheriff’s office,” Jordan said. “She thought some inappropriate behavior had occurred.”

The alleged sexual abuse occurred “over a period of several years,” he said.

The girl was interviewed through Hero House, a Colquitt County child advocacy center.

As of late Thursday afternoon no bond had been set for Sellers.
