Moss Farms to play host to region championships beginning Friday

MOULTRIE — Some 149 athletes and 24 coaches have signed up to take part in USA Diving’s Junior Region 2 Championships that will run Friday through Sunday at the Moose Moss Aquatic Center.

Among those 149 are 27 who will represent Moss Farms Diving.

Divers will be seeking top-15 finishes that will qualify them for the Zone B Championships, which will be held June 28-July 1 in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.

Zone qualifiers will compete in the 2018 Junior National Championships will be held July 29-Aug. 4 in Atlanta.

Diving will begin at 9 a.m. on Friday, Saturday and Sunday this weekend.

Divers are representing 15 teams from four Southeastern states.

Moss Farms Diving coach Chris Heaton said he expected 18-20 of his club’s entries to advance to Zones. Of those, Heaton says Bo Bridges, Anabelle Brooks, Jayden Bowman, Jet Giovanni, Sky Giovanni, Parker Hardigree, Ruth Anne McCranie, Abigale White and Emily Ann Wolfson could turn in top-5 finishes in at least one event.

The Diving Tigers who will compete this weekend, and their events, are:

• Jayden Bowman, 11-and-under boys, 1-meter and 3-meter springboards.

• Bo Bridges, 12-13 boys, both springboards and platform.

• Anabelle Brooks, 11-and-under girls, both springboards.

• Marlie Daniels, 12-13 girls, both springboards.

• Kendall Deloach, 11-and-under girls, 1-meter.

• Timothy Fagan, 14-15 boys, both springboards and platform.

• Jet Geovanni, 12-13 boys, both springboards and platform.

• Sky Geovanni, 16-18 boys, both springboards and platform.

• Isabella Grayson, 16-18 girls, 1-meter.

• Tuck Gregory, 11-and-under boys, 1-meter.

• Parker Hardigree, 16-18 boys, both springboards.

• Lyla Horne, 11-and-under girls, 1-meter.

• Shannon Icard, 12-13 girls, both springboards and platform.

• Kate Jimmerson, 12-13 girls, 1-meter.

• Hunter Kebler, 16-18 boys, both springboards and platform.

• James Kirbo, 12-13 boys, both springboards.

• Mauri Leroux, 14-15 girls, both springboards and platform.

• Nolan Lewis, 14-15 boys, both springboards and platform.

• Ruth Anne McCranie, 12-13 girls, both springboards and platform.

• Mackenzie Smith, 14-15 girls, 1-meter.

• Maggie Strange, 11-and-under girls, both springboards.

• Ann Taylor, 12-13 girls, 1-meter.

• Judson Taylor, 11-and-under boys, 1-meter.

• Carson Tyler, 14-15 boys, both springboards and platform.

• Braden Venet, 11-and-under boys, 1-meter.

• Abigale White, 14-15 girls, both springboards and platform.

• Emily Ann Wolfson, 16-18 girls, both springboards.

Heaton said the 27-diver contingent is the largest Moss Farms has ever taken to a region championships.

Moss Farms, which also has John Fox and Elizabeth Ann Barber on staff, has 75 divers, including two that are younger than 4, enrolled in its program.

“We are really excited about the future of the program,” Heaton said.
