MOULTRIE, Ga. — County residents with old tires lying around taking up space in the shed or breeding mosquitoes outdoors can get rid of them this week free of charge.
The tire amnesty event for scrap tires will be held Friday and Saturday at Colquitt County’s recycling center.
A previous tire amnesty was a huge success, Colquitt County Administrator Chas Cannon said, so the idea was to give residents another shot.
Tires can be dropped off from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. both days at the 245 23rd St. N.E. facility. To reach it, turn at Barber’s Restaurant off Highway 133 South.
Acceptable scrap tires are those from passenger cars, tractor trailers and front and rear farm tractors. The county will not accept heavy equipment tires, skidder tires or tires from retail tire dealers or scrap tire generators.
