CAIRO, Ga. — Joint Development Authority members recently identified a site to house a potential Grady County industry.
Julian Brown, JDA executive director, said the potential site for a new spec building would be south of Performance Foodservice-Powell, 211 Hall Rd.

A 40,000 square foot building would need an estimated 13 acres, Brown said. For a 60,000 square foot building, Brown pointed out, 15.66 acres would be needed and 18.65 acres would be needed for a 100,000 square foot building.
“This site just allows for a lot of expansion,” he added.
JDA Vice Chairman Robbie Burns said “99 percent” of spec building plans are done because a company looked at Cairo three years ago but ultimately went elsewhere.
“A lot of work has been done on this site,” Burns said. “With this site, we own all the land around it.”
Burns also suggested that “to move forward” with the spec building project, a sub-committee should be formed.
“I think that would help out a lot,” he added.
