“It feels amazing and I am overwhelmed with excitement,” said Hilliard. “Truly a dream come true.”

Hilliard has spent his senior season breaking SHS school records and running personal bests. He has set new marks this year in both the 800 meter run (1:54) and the 1600 meter run (4:19).

“A 1:54 and a 4:19 — you have to put some work in, some miles in — to get those times,” said Suwannee track coach Matt Jackson. “I always know Micah is going to work and it’s shown in the meets this year. And that’s why he’s going to succeed at Florida State.”

Hilliard won district titles in both the 800 meter run and 1600 meter run on April 10. He’ll be competing in Wednesday’s regional meet in hopes of advancing to state.
