Community invited to Multicultural Family Night
DALTON, Ga. — The public is invited to celebrate diversity at the Multicultural Family Night potluck dinner and game night on Friday at the Mack Gaston Community Center. Dinner is at 6:30 and games follow from 7:30 to 9:30. Please bring a favorite dish to share. Attendees are asked to RSVP to coordinate food by calling 404-680-7063 or emailing smstreiff@gmail.com. Hice announces mobile office hours in Sparta
SPARTA, Ga. — Congressman Jody Hice’s office will hold mobile office hours in Hancock County later this month.
From 1 to 3 p.m. Tuesday, April 24 at the Sparta Public Library, 8794 E. Broad St., Sparta, constituents will have the chance to meet with a member of Hice’s team to discuss issues and concerns.
Similar events are also slated in McDuffie County and Morgan County later this month.
“I understand the challenge of busy lives and hectic schedules and that not everyone has the opportunity to meet in our regular offices,” said Hice via press release. “That’s why we’re bringing our office to you. If you need assistance with a federal agency, I encourage you to stop by the Sparta Public Library on Tuesday, April 24th or the McDuffie County Farm Bureau or the Madison-Morgan Chamber of Commerce on Friday, April 27th.”
Residents may also call or visit the congressman’s offices in Monroe and Milledgeville during regular offices hours or in Thomson each Thursday.
Wanee returns to Music Park
LIVE OAK, Fla. — The Wanee Music Festival returns to the Spirit of the Suwannee Music Park this weekend.
Wanee Wednesday kicks off the long-time event, which then runs Thursday through Saturday.
This year’s lineup includes Widespread Panic, Phil Lesh & The Terrapin Family Band, As the Crow Flies, Dark Star Orchestra (Thursday on the Peach Stage), St. Paul & The Broken Bones, Jaimoe’s Jasssz Band, The Chris Robinson Brotherhood, North Mississippi All Stars, Karl Denson’s Tiny Universe (Eat A Bunch of Peaches featuring George Porter Jr. & Marc Quinones), Pigeons Playing Ping Pong, Walter Trout, Sonny Landreth, The Marcus King Band, George Porter Jr. & Runnin’ Pardners), Pink Talking Fish (Tied To The Whipping Post), Soul Rebels, Les Brers, Bobby Lee Rodgers Trio, The Main Squeeze, Big Something, New Orleans Suspects, Berry Oakley’s Indigenous Suspects, Midnight North, The Yeti Trio and Crazy Fingers. Wanee Wednesday will kick off the weekend April 18 with Roosevelt Collier Trio playing homage to Jimi Hendrix (Jimi Meets Funk), Crazy Fingers, Ben Sparaco and the New Effect, Juke and also Bonnie Blue getting this music festival underway.
Tickets are still on sale and can be purchased online at www.waneefestival.com. All sales are final. Wanee Music Festival will take place rain or shine. One must be 18 and older or accompanied and supervised by a parent or legal guardian, to attend.

Wanee was hosted for the first 10 years by the Allman Brothers Band until the band officially retired. Still, many of the band members continue to play each year with other bands at Wanee.
RaeLynn to perform at Wild Adventures

‘Pirates of the Cure-ibbean’: Colquitt County Relay for Life set for Friday
Colquitt County’s Relay for Life event — with the theme “Pirates of the Cure-ibbean: Making cancer walk the plank” — will be held on Friday, April 20. The survivor’s breakfast will be held at 7 a.m. at First Methodist Church, and the night event will be held from 6:30 to 10:30 p.m. at the UGA Extension Office on Veterans Parkway near the Adel Highway. NAMI Nights now once a month
MOULTRIE, Ga. — Until further notice, the Moultrie chapter of the National Alliance on Mental Illness will meet only once a month: on the first Tuesday of each month. An educational meeting will start at 6 p.m., followed by support groups from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Previously, support groups were held on other Tuesdays in the month as well. Meetings take place at First United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall, 409 First St. S.E. Park in the church parking lot on Fifth Avenue at Second Street Southeast and enter through the door under the canopy. Facility is handicapped accessible. Light refreshments will be served.
Taqueria burglary under investigation
TIFTON, Ga. — Taqueria San Jose, located in the 1400 block of Tift Avenue, was burglarized on Apr. 11, according to a report from the Tifton Police Department. The report states that police were informed someone had forced their way into the business through the front window sometime between 8 p.m. on April 10 and 9 a.m. on April 11. The window glass was broken and the frame was busted out of the wall and was found leaning against the inside wall of the business, according to the report. At the time of the report the only thing missing was $50 in cash. The case is still under investigation.
