MOULTRIE, Ga. β Magnolia Garden Club celebrated its annual luncheon at the lovely home of Mary Phillips near Cairo. Chicken pot pie was served with other sides and desserts.
Ruby Bowermeister shared her life story. Ruby is 93 and has held many offices in the club. As an interesting program, she shared some funny tales, some interesting stories during her growing up in school. They played games that were not common today.
She and Bob were out riding his motorcycle one Sunday morning and decided to get married. They were in Albany and drove up to the First Baptist Church, went in between Sunday school and preaching and asked the pastor if he would marry them, his answer was, βyes.β They rode off on the motorcycle as a happily married couple.
Ruby and Bob had four children and she lives on a farm and grows many beautiful daffodils, azaleas, camellias and many others.
Ruby was a school teacher, and was a shining example of a good club member.
Barbara Jones was a visitor from Cherokee Garden Club.
After the meeting, Mary went out in her yard and shared some of her lovely flowers and plants with the club members.
