THOMASVILLE — The Thomas County Sheriff’s Office is taking unwanted and unused prescriptions.
A prescription drug drop-off is available at the county law enforcement office, 921 Smith Ave., Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m.
The drop-off is in its second year at the sheriff’s office, said Capt. Ron James, who is also the Thomas County Jail supervisor.
“The first year went really well,” James said.
Prescription medications not used, James pointed out, often help “feed the addiction.”
“We’re trying to keep it out of the wrong peo-ple’s hands,” James added.
How to dispose of medications:
• Empty contents of pill bottles into a plastic bag with a zip top
• Scratch out all personal identification
• Drop off at the Thomas County Sheriff’s Office front office or at the Thomas County/Thomasville Narcotics/Vice Division office.
Items not to be dropped off are:
• Injectables
• Syringes
• Any item used for diabetic tests
• Inhalers
• Thermometers.
