MOULTRIE, Ga. — A Colquitt County family reported that an intruder touched their 4-year-old daughter during a Thursday night home invasion before fleeing when the child’s mother confronted him.

Victoria Oliva, of the 300 block of Circle Road, reported that she was in the bathroom at about 11:30 p.m. when she heard the girl screaming in her bedroom. The incident was not reported until about an hour and a half later, police said.

“(Oliva) called her husband about 11:30 last night and told him to come home because someone had come into the house and put his hands over the daughter’s face,” Colquitt County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Katrina Johnson said.

Alerted by the scream, Oliva told police, she rushed to the girl’s bedroom.

“When she saw the man in her daughter’s bedroom she grabbed him,” Johnson said. “When she grabbed him by the shirt he ran out of the house through the back door.”

A door of the residence was damaged and would not lock, allowing the intruder to enter.

Oliva described him as a Hispanic male in his mid-20s wearing a white shirt and blue jean shorts with a tattoo on the right side of his neck and a goatee without a mustache.

The couple reported that a gold necklace of unknown value was stolen.

Emergency medical personnel checked out Oliva and the girl, Johnson said.
