TIFTON — A dice run in honor of nine-year-old Mikah Phillips raised more than $2,000 on Mar. 31.
Mikah Phillips was diagnosed with glioblastoma, a rare type of brain cancer, in February and has been receiving treatments since then, according to his parents, Debbie and Justin Phillips.
The family has to travel extensively to ensure Mikah receives treatment for his cancer, which takes a financial toll on the family. But that is the least of their worries, Debbie said.
The family is focused on being positive and keeping Mikah’s spirits up.
The dice run began 11 a.m. at Tifton Harley Davidson, where approximately 20 riders registered to participate.
After the run, the riders ended up at the Crazy Loon Saloon, which cosponsored the event with the Tifton Elks Lodge.
Deez Butts, winners of the 2018 Rhythm and Ribs BBQ festival, provided barbecue.
Organizers Lonnie Lewis and Brian Collins sold raffle tickets.
Goo Goo Car Wash, Longhorn Steakhouse, The Pub, Sonic, Tractor Supply Company, Tranquility Therapeutic Massage, Waffle House, Williams Hotel Group, Harley Davidson and Embody Art donated raffle items.
The event ended up raising more than $2,200, according to Lewis.
