TIFTON — From handmade jewelry to locally-produced honey, the Wiregrass Farmers Market will have a wide variety of items available from local suppliers when it opens for its 2018 spring season from 9 a.m. until noon on April 7 under the pole barn behind the Country Store at the Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College Georgia Museum of Agriculture.

Now in its eighth season, the Wiregrass Farmers Market was founded by a group of community volunteers committed to a local and sustainable lifestyle to connect local suppliers with local consumers. No resale or commercially-made items are ever a part of the market’s offerings.

For the 2018 season, shoppers can expect to find fresh produce, artisanal breads and baked goods, free range eggs, locally grown meats, homemade jams and jellies, local honey, cold-pressed oils, goat cheese, and more. All are produced with care from the farmers selling them.

In addition to food commodities, local artists, authors and crafters will be selling handmade jewelry, art, books, goats’ milk soaps and clean-living products. Plants and handmade décor also make an appearance at the market. A coffee vendor offers the freshest beans roasted by her family.

Visitors can become part of the canning club to learn how to preserve their fresh finds for years to come and visit the demonstration garden overseen by market volunteer Penny Peters.

There is no admission cost to visit the Wiregrass Farmers Market. Shoppers may park in the Country Store lot on Whiddon Mill Road for easy access to the Market.
