Shooting ruled self-defense

MOULTRIE — A Moultrie man involved in a fatal shooting last year outside a Moultrie nightclub will not be tried in the slaying, which was ruled self-defense.
Vance Ervin Cuff, 29, a former Colquitt County High and University of Georgia football player, was involved in a confrontation on Feb. 4, 2017, with Dewayne Williams Jr. at the 50 Yard Line in which Williams was shot multiple times.
The incident occurred in the early morning hours in the parking lot of the 300 Second St. N.E. sports bar. Williams, 28, was pronounced dead at about 1:30 the same morning.
No charges were filed in the shooting, which District Attorney Brad Shealy described as an act of self-defense.
In other accusations presented by prosecutors:
• Angela Michelle Wade, 47, 805 W. Bay Ave., Doerun: 11 counts theft by taking.
• Kendra Michelle Smith: executing fictitious checks.
• Fredrick Bernard Williford, 55, 1005 Joe Louis Ave.: theft by shoplifting and criminal trespass.
• Claudia Iri Jimenez Interiano, 28 2509 Second Ave. S.E.: theft by taking.
• Peter Thornton, 17, 384 East Gate Circle, Norman Park: entering an automobile.
• Anthony Lamont Edmonds, also known as Spanky: possession of a controlled substance (cocaine), possession of marijuana, possession of drug-related objects and giving false information to a law enforcement officer.
• Kayla Pershon Lofton, 30, 103 Whitehead Drive, Albany: three counts each executing fictitious checks and theft by deception.
• Adren Breuer Hall, 20, 411 Patch Road: three counts financial transaction card fraud.
• Jerry Lovett Jr., 27, 300 Martin Luther King Jr. Drive: possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute and obstruction of an officer.
• Wendell Fain Griffin Jr., 37, 617 Waites Road, Norman Park: theft by receiving stolen property.
• Justin Mac Allen: theft by taking and theft by receiving stolen property.
• Melissa Jean English: two counts theft by taking.
• Jason Henry Poole, 41, 410 E. Central Ave., and Kristin Nicole Tolan, 26, 315 Capt. Gay Road: possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute.
• Phillip Bryan Potter, 56, 404 Seventh Ave. S.E.: possession of methamphetamine, driving while license suspended, driving on improper registration and operating a vehicle without insurance.
• Lavinsky Sherrod Carter: possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of more than an ounce of marijuana and three counts obstruction of an officer.
• Katrina Greene Broome, 37, 435 Rondo Gay Road: possession of methamphetamine, possession of a controlled substance (Clonazepam), possession of a controlled substance (Methylphenidate hydrochloride), possession of drug-related objects, failure to maintain lane and failure to carry license.
