MOULTRIE, Ga. — An early morning fire on Monday destroyed a vacant county residence.
Firefighters with Bay, Doerun and Funston stations were dispatched at about 3:03 a.m. to 2456 Funston-Doerun Road.
The blaze apparently had been burning for some time and there was nothing they could to save the house after their arrival.
“It had completely fell in by the time we got there,” said Doerun Fire Department Chief John Walters. “It was completely collapsed in when we got there.”
There were no injuries, and no one had lived at the address for several years, Walters said. There was no electrical service at the house.
The house was destroyed, and there is little left to try to determine the cause of the blaze, he said.
