TIFTON — The grand opening and ribbon cutting for The Zone Collectibles and More, which specializes in collectables, comics and toys among other things, was held on Mar. 23 at the store’s location at 305 Main Street in downtown Tifton.

Kim and Kevin Clady, the owners, decided to open up the store after looking at the unique downtown and how the City of Tifton promotes the area.

“We came up with a concept we felt would make a good fit with the other shops downtown,” said Kevin Clady. “It’s an experience they just don’t get to have anywhere else.”

The business is a family affair, with both Kim, Kevin and their son Alex being collectors themselves.

“It’s definitely a family passion,” Kevin said.

The store offers a variety of toys, games, comics and collectables for all ages and price ranges.

“We have nice jewelry, we have a girls section with a variety of dolls and playsets,” he said. “We’ve got a Star Wars section, a Star Trek section, animated TV, Marvel, DC. We’ve got action figures, building blocks, Legos. We have something for everybody, so that when a family comes in they can all take their time and look. That’s what we’ve tried to make the experience.”

Kevin said the initial items they chose for the store were their best guess for what people would be looking for.

“We’re going to do our very best to morph the shop into what people want to have,” he said. He encourages people to contact them through their Facebook page to request things. They also make an effort to price things reasonably, usually lower than what can be found on the internet, he said.

The store hours are Tuesday through Saturday, 10 a.m. until 6 p.m.
