TIFTON — On March 14, John and Tammy Eunice of Valdosta were guest speakers at a meeting of the Tifton Rotary Club.
John Eunice shared the story, “The Clock is Ticking,” of his and his wife Tammy’s journey as parents of James, a senior in the class of 2011, honor student and football player for the Valdosta High School Wildcats.
James was lost at age 17 in a drowning accident on Ocean Pond near Lake Park in January 2011.
In many messages before his death, James conveyed his faith in Jesus Christ and his awareness that life is short and we must show each other love during our time together on earth.
James Eunice was accepted onto the University of Georgia Bulldogs football team and was included on the roster for all four years during which he would have been a student there.
The James Eunice Charity Fund in his memory provided 85 scholarships to high school seniors last year, including Valdosta High, Lowndes High, Valwood and surrounding counties.
John Eunice said they have not awarded a scholarship in their son’s name in Tift County yet, and they hope to change that.
