MOULTRIE, Ga. — Two people were injured Sunday in a collision at a Colquitt County intersection that has been the site of several wrecks in recent months, including a fatality in November.

The two-car crash occurred at about 8:35 p.m. Sunday at the intersection of Highway 37 and Thigpen Trail in the southwestern portion of the county.

According to the Georgia State Patrol, Amber Burce, 26, of Gainesville, Ga., was driving north on Thigpen in a 2011 Toyota Corolla and pulled into the path of a 1999 Ford Crown Victoria.

Jontravious Taylor, 19, of Moultrie was headed west on Highway 37 at the time, and told police that the other car sat in the intersection until the last second and then pulled in front of him. His efforts to brake and honk his horn to get the other driver’s attention did not prevent the collision.

Burce told police she did not see the other car after stopping at the stop sign.

Burce and passenger Marvin Nimox, 20, of Thomasville were not injured, the GSP said. Quinshayla Johnson, 31, of Gainesville, a second passenger riding with Burce, and Taylor were transported to Colquitt Regional Medical Center.

A hospital spokeswoman said that they were treated and released.

An Atlanta woman was killed and another seriously injured at the same intersection on Nov. 10, 2017.
