City Council set to vote on water system improvements March 19

TIFTON — The Tifton City Council is expected to vote on the project plan for water, sewer and stormwater improvements at the Mar. 19 meeting, according to the agenda for the meeting.

The project was discussed at the Mar. 5 workshop meeting.

City manager Pete Pyrzenski presented the plan to the council, which calls for approximately $4 million in improvements to the system over the upcoming fiscal year.

An estimated $1 million will go to correcting pipe problems in the Pebblebrook neighborhood.

The council should also be voting on replacing the sidewalk and upgrading the parking lot on Commerce Way.

The project plan includes replacing the current, narrow sidewalk with plants, putting in cross walks and adding a handicapped accessible parking space to the parking lot.

Also on the agenda are:

• a resolution granting enterprise zone incentives to Tifton Magnolia Properties for property located at 101 S. Tift Ave.

• a resolution amending section 1.7 of the city’s Personnel Policies and Procedures.

• a resolution releasing the City of Nashville’s certificate of deposits for the natural gas system.

The city council meeting will be at 5:30 p.m. at city hall, located at 130 E. 1st St.
