Due to the lateness of the hour when the announcement was made, The Observer was not able to determine how many jobs will be affected.

The store is located at 1209 First Ave. S.E. A Winn-Dixie store across the street was closed in 2014 when the owner of the Winn-Dixie brand purchased the Harvey’s grocery chain. Approximately 80 jobs were lost then. A Tractor Supply store now occupies the former Winn-Dixie location.

The grocery store’s parent company, Southeastern Grocers, has entered into a pre-packaged, court-supervised restructuring, according to Southeastern Grocers website, www.segrocers.com.

The restructure will close 94 “underperforming” stores in the next 90 days, the website reads. The company will retain 582 stores after those are closed.
