13-year-old arrested after fight at school

MOULTRIE, Ga. — A student’s joke about another’s mother set off a fight on Thursday morning at a Colquitt County school campus resulting in the arrest of a 13-year-old.
The confrontation happened at about 9:30 a.m. at Willie J. Williams Middle School, according to the Colquitt County Sheriff’s Office.
The older boy attacked an 11-year-old and a fight ensued over “mama jokes,” police said.
The arrested teen-ager was released to his parents.
In other arrests
• Manuel Solis Govea, 33, 277 N. Pine Drive, was charged Tuesday with battery (family violence), interference with a 911 call and cruelty to children.
• Theresa Dawn Chastain, 32, 7178 Hwy. 37 W., Hartsfield, was charged Thursday with driving without license and failure to keep in proper lane.
• Christopher Bryan Nix, 41, 103 Chaserville Blvd., Sparks, was charged Thursday with theft by deception.

Burglary

• Manuel Perez, 900 block Sardis Church Road, reported Thursday the theft of a cell phone, gold necklace and two gold rings of unknown value.
Martin Garcia, who also lives in the residence, called police when he arrived home at about 5:30 p.m. and found that the door had been pried open and his belongings ransacked.
None of Garcia’s belongings were taken, he told police.

Moultrie Police
• Cedrick Roberts, Stockbridge, Ga., reported Thursday the theft of a tag from a semi truck.
• Erica Smith, 500 block First Avenue Northwest, reported Thursday the theft of $630 and other property valued at a total of $1,402.
• Vera Thomas, 1100 block Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, reported Thursday the theft of a $100 bill from her purse.
Thomas told police that she suspects that a male relative took the money.
Sheriff’s Office
• Justin Murphy, 700 block Shade Murphy Road, reported Thursday the theft of a Honda Rancher 400 four-wheeler valued at $4,000 from the 300 block of Mt. Olive Church Road.

• Heath Hurndon, 1200 block Hopewell Church Road, reported Thursday the theft of a Glock 42 semi-automatic pistol and a Taurus revolver.
The value of the guns was unknown.

• Thomas Williams, 1100 block Joe Louis Avenue Northwest, reported Thursday a case of financial transaction card fraud in which $91 was stolen.
