MOULTRIE, Ga.—Winners from the Blind Date with a Book campaign were treated to a tasty lunch in the media center at C.A. Gray Junior High School, sponsored by the local Dairy Queen.

Throughout the month of February, the CAG reading bowl team “fixed up” students on “blind dates” with books, depending on the questionnaires participants filled out prior to the contest.

Questions went along with the Valentine’s Day theme and asked students if they were looking for a long-term relationship with a book and what they looked for in their perfect book.

After students were done with their designated book date, they filled out a Rate Your Date form which put their name into a drawing for a special lunch.

Students had to complete the entire questionnaire in order to qualify, which left some of the students out of the contest when they did not complete the form.

Winners included Makayla Sauls, Lilla Craft, Ariel Dudding, Serenity Walker and Aralyn Cooper.

Media specialist Melanie Turner said she helped the Reading Bowl team organize the event, in hopes to encourage students to read more books.

Turner is taking members of the reading bowl team to a conference in Gainesville, Ga., next week where CAG students will present projects such as a video and a T-shirt designed by the students.
