MOULTRIE, Ga. — A Boston woman found with suspected prescription pills in her purse when she was arrested on a shoplifting charge was among a number of drug cases made by law enforcement in recent days.
Colquitt County Sheriff Rod Howell credits the production in part to having another drug investigations officer, one assigned from the Moultrie Police Department to the county’s Drug Enforcement Team, on board. Howell credited the four officers on the drug unit with some 14 arrests in roughly the first week.
Some of those include the Feb. 15 arrest of Cheryl Ann Harrell after she was detained as a shoplifting suspect at Wal-Mart, 641 Veterans Parkway S.
Harrell is accused of concealing clothing and makeup and walking past points of sale at the retailer.
“During the arrest she was found to be in possession of some prescription pills,” said Sgt. Justin Lindsay.
The pills, believed to be the powerful pain medication Oxycontin, have been sent to a Georgia Bureau of Investigation criminal laboratory for analysis, Lindsay said.
Harrell, 46, 210 Big Sky Lane, Boston, was charged with possession of a controlled substance and theft by shoplifting.
