Deputies arrest 2nd out-of-state fugitive in a week

MOULTRIE, Ga. — For the second time this week law enforcement officers have run across an out-of-state fugitive apparently trying to lie low in Colquitt County.

Timothy Lee Barrett was being held in Colquitt County Jail on a fugitive from justice warrant after he was arrested in Norman Park.

Barrett, 31, 537 Roberts St., Slocomb, Ala., was arrested on Tuesday in the 100 block of Hilltop Drive.

Barrett is wanted in Geneva County, Ala., on active warrants charging him with two counts of kidnapping, domestic violence strangulation and failure to appear, according to Colquitt County Sheriff’s Office reports.

Earlier in the week police arrested an Arkansas man charged with parole violation in Arkansas.

• Jessica Garcia, 33, 101 Tony Brothers Road, Doerun, was charged Thursday with driving while license withdrawn and failure to drive within single lane.

•  Leah Dunn, 58, 883 Ty Ty Road, Tifton, was charged Wednesday with failure to drive within single lane.

• Kalib Arthur Smith, 23,820 Sixth St. S.E., was charged Wednesday with possession of marijuana.

Moultrie Police

• Mark Shane Mitchell, 31, 1700 Fourth St. S.E., was charged Tuesday with battery (family violence), possession of marijuana and cruelty to children.

Georgia State Patrol

• Alicia Ruiz Garcia, 22, 950 Smith Road, was charged Thursday with driving without license and speeding.

• George Sanders, 50, 809 First Ave. N.W., was charged Thursday for driving while license withdrawn.

• Melissa Jones, 100 block Miller Avenue, Norman Park, reported Wednesday that a female relative started a fight with her during which she received a scratch to the top of her head.

When police spoke with the female, a juvenile, she told them that she retaliated after being hit first.

No arrests were made.

Moultrie Police

• Lashona Kirk, 800 block Shy Manor Drive, reported Thursday that a boy struck her juvenile son in the neck during an argument.

Police were unable to locate the person described by Kirk.

Disorderly conduct

• Willie Ann McDonald, 300 block Grizzly Bear Road, Norman Park, reported Thursday that a male relative wielded a baseball bat during a dispute with his brother over a cigarette.

McDonald told police that when she locked herself in the bathroom the male used the baseball bat on the door.

The suspect told police that he did not have a baseball bat and that he was angry because there was nothing to eat in the house.

McDonald did not want to press charges and the suspect decided to walk to his grandmother’s residence.

Fraud

• Wilma Williams, 1200 block Doc Darbyshire Road, reported Tuesday that someone used her debit card to make purchases at four locations in Maryland.

• Dalena West, 700 block Connell Road, reported Thursday that someone opened a credit card account in her name without her authorization.

West told police she became aware of the activity when she was notified that some $2,400 was owed on the fraudulent account.

Moultrie Police

• Velikia Daniels, 29, Moultrie, reported Thursday the theft of $20 and other property valued at $400 from a 2003 Chevrolet Impala parked at the intersection of West Bypass and Elliott Brown Street.

Thefts

• Wal-Mart, 641 Veterans Parkway S., reported Thursday that a shoplifter stole electronic merchandise valued at $648.

Trespassing

Moultrie Police

• Vireatha Moore, 200 block Hillcrest Avenue, reported Thursday that a man trespassing on her property kicked her dog and darkened a security light.

Moore told police that when she heard her poodle barking in the back yard and went to check on him she saw a tall male run out of her yard and across the street. The poodle was limping, leading Moore to believe he had been kicked. The security light was not working because the light bulb had been unscrewed.

• Lashonda Mordon, 1700 block Fourth Street Southeast, reported Thursday that after confronting a young male on a children’s bicycle near her trash can she discovered that the bicycle belongs to her son.

Mordon told police that the male left without the bicycle when she told him to leave and that she was calling 911. The bicycle that he left at the end of the driveway belongs to her child and had been taken from the carport.
