- Dancers from South Georgia Ballet will perform at 7 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 17, at the Colquitt County Arts Center.
MOULTRIE, Ga. — South Georgia Ballet continues to celebrate its 20th anniversary season with an exquisite evening filled with contemporary dance, live music and an enjoyable after show gala.
Join SGB as they honor 20 years of dancers past and present with FUSE: Black-Tie on Broadway on Saturday, Feb. 17, at the Colquitt County Arts Center, beginning at 7 p.m.
FUSE will commemorate the legacy started by Founding Director Alison Bundrick and continuing with current Artistic Director Melissa June. Local residents Mary Cate Bazal, Tori Cordista, Annabelle Norman and Sara Strickland will entertain the audience alongside other company dancers during this upbeat performance.
“It is really hard to put into just a few words what 20 years of SGB means to me,” Bundrick said. “Thinking back to that first summer of classes, I can still remember the excitement, anxiety and even fear about taking such a huge leap of faith and opening a dance studio in Cairo. My hope was that I could build a regional program that would give serious students the tools to follow their dreams and to share the joy of movement with every little dancer who just had to dance.
“It was truly divine intervention that led me to Cairo and little did I know that there was a community eager to give me the greatest gift of my career, a dream come true,” she said. “And even my wildest dreams did not prepare me for what we have today. I would have never allowed myself to dream that big! But here we are with beautiful new studios, ‘The Nutcracker’ performed earlier in the season with a live orchestra and over a thousand little dancers who have had the chance to experience the joy of dance.
This season’s FUSE: Black-Tie on Broadway will feature current SGB dancers and have cameos from alumni to entertain the audience with favorite Broadway classics. Dancers will perform along with live music by Dana King and Gypsy Cotton. Dance performances will feature original choreography by TV personality Emily Loftiss, renowned professional dancers and instructors Ashley Adams and Emily Chapo, professional dancers and current SGB staff instructors Kaitlyn Christianson-Sacco and Rebecca Ross, along with Artistic Director Melissa June. Choreography by SGB founder Alison Bundrick will be revived to reminisce the past and celebrate the future.
The After Show Black-Tie Gala will offer patrons a continued opportunity to enjoy music, dance, catered food, drinks with a signature cocktail and a time to reflect upon favorite shows and unforgettable moments that go along with being a part of SGB performances.
