Welcome PCOM

Dear editor:
As we continue to welcome PCOM (medical college) to our township, geography and common sense prevailed.
May PCOM’‘s success in Moultrie be rewarding to its cause of medical education.
Since geography played a role in the decision process – why are towns located throughout America and I suppose around the world at 25 to thirty mile intervals, of course separation aids in originality, village to village.
Moultrie, to be sure has its own distinctive personality. Studebaker Manufacturing Corp. used distance of travel as an indicator for when to grease wheel hubs on the wagons they produced. In the early sixties in a popular book store in Atlanta, I chanced upon a “Studebaker” wagon advertisement, offering tips on extending the life of wheel hubs.
Upon arriving in a township 25 miles distant — apply heavy lube grease to each wheel hub. If early on a squealing wheel bearing surface is observed, apply grease. In this regard Moultrie has some similarity to the “Studebaker” wheel hub advisory.
Given common sense applied by PCOM decision makers in choosing this Moultrie to equally serve their cause in educating medical students. Welcome PCOM we look forward to your arrival.
Tom Rogers,
Moultrie.
