Dear editor:

I want to express how deeply upset I am about our president’s racism, culminating with him referring to Haiti and various African countries as “s….holes”.

This is racism, and not, I think, a value we should condone in anyone, including President Trump. I am also deeply, deeply hurt by our lawmakers’ willful blindness to these activities.

 Let me reiterate, the president makes racist comments, and our senators fall all over themselves to either deny or justify these comments.

Responding with comments such as “if it’s true,” “gross misrepresentation” or “We do not recall the president saying these comments specifically” is condoning and even endorsing racism.

I cannot understand how my senators, who I trust to represent my interests in Washington, can treat this as a non-issue.

Sen. Perdue and Sen. Isakson must make a definitive statement about whether they agree with the president’s views or not.
