Man charged in choking incident

MOULTRIE, Ga. — A weekend domestic dispute led to felony charges for a Colquitt County man accused of choking a woman during the incident.

Colquitt County Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched at about 12:30 p.m. Friday to the 400 block of Old Albany Road, according to agency reports.

There, Chelis Luckie, who lives at that address, reported that she had been assaulted by Jonathan Shane Kastelic.

“Kastelic and his ex-girlfriend got into an argument and he ended up slamming her down on the bed, restraining her, and at some point he choked her during the fight and hit her,” sheriff’s Sgt. Ronald Jordan said. “It was witnessed by her roommate.”

Kastelic, 28, 1265 Doc Darbyshire, was charged with aggravated assault and false imprisonment.

• Jeffrey Bishop, 800 block Fifth Avenue Southeast, reported Friday the theft of an LG G5 cell phone valued at $1,000.

• James McDuffie Jr., 300 block Magnolia Avenue, reported Monday that a female companion stole $60 from his residence.

Police spoke with the woman identified by McDuffie who told them that a woman paid the couple $60 for some work they did and that she took the $30 that was her share when McDuffie kicked her out of the residence.

No arrests were made.

• James Avery, 100 block Avery Road, reported Monday the thefts of gasoline from various containers and a jug containing gas.

• Bradley Mitchell, 200 block Smith Street, Berlin, reported Sunday the theft of a Craftsman toolbox, two or three air wrenches, a bench vise and miscellaneous tools whose value was unknown at the time the theft was reported to police.

• Calvez Ramirez, 300 block Circle Road, reported Saturday the theft of a gun and portable DVD player with a total value of $101.

• Walter Mitchell, 200 block Smith Street, Berlin, reported Sunday the theft of a Kicker speaker, 12-inch amplifier, three-ton floor jack, speaker system, red tool box, a bullet box filled with tools, jumper cables, and a Husqvarna chain saw were taken from his 1997 Ford F-150 with a total value of $4,265.

• Sharon Dunlap, 3600 lock Highway South, reported Sunday the theft of a Coach pocketbook and a book bag containing $2,500 from a 2017 Toyota Camry.

• Evelyn Moxley, 100 block Moxley Lane, reported Monday that a resident at that address ripped the bedroom and front doors off their hinges after she told him that he had to move out.

• Princess Edwards, 3000 block Sylvester Drive, reported Thursday that someone kicked in the front door of her residence.

Edwards told police that nothing had been stolen.

• Sabastian Hansen, 32, Camilla, reported Friday that a female acquaintance slashed three tires of his 2007 Chevrolet Impala while it was parked in the 700 block of Highway 133 South.
