MOULTRIE, Ga. — A Colquitt County teacher arrested on Tuesday is accused of child molestation of a student in the school system in which he is employed.
Sebrun James Holton Jr., a teacher at C.A. Gray Junior High School, was arrested after an investigation conducted by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation and the Colquitt County Sheriff’s Office.
Holton is accused of what the GBI described as “sexual contact” with the female student in separate incidents late last year. The activity took place in the city of Moultrie, the agency said.
“On Jan. 11, 2018, the GBI Field Office in Thomasville was requested to assist the Colquitt County Sheriff’s Office with a report of a sexual assault of a Colquitt County student,” the GBI said in a Tuesday afternoon news release. “Information revealed during the investigation revealed that sexual contact had taken place in October and December of 2017.”
Holton has been charged with two counts of aggravated child molestation, and one count each enticing a child for indecent purposes and sexual assault by persons with supervisory authority. He was being held at Colquitt County Jail.
The GBI asks that anyone with additional information call its Thomasville office at (229) 225-4090, or the sheriff’s Criminal Investigations Division at (229) 616-7470.
The investigation remains active, according to police.
