Human remains found in Clinch County

HOMERVILLE, Ga. — Human remains were found near Fargo in Clinch County on New Year’s Day in the same area where a man has been missing since February, according to a statement from the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.

The Clinch County Sheriff’s Office received a report around 3 p.m. that day that remains had been found in a wooded area. The remains were found near where Jacob Dewitt Conner was reported missing by coworkers from his job site, according to the statement.

He was last seen near the intersection of Score Bridge Road and Plumb Bush Road on Feb. 1.

A search of the area is being conducted by the GBI, the sheriff’s office, the Georgia Department of Natural Resources and local first responders. The remains will be taken to a GBI crime lab for identification.
