Two men robbed over long holiday weekend

MOULTRIE, Ga. — Two Moultrie men were victims of New Year’s weekend armed robberies, with one forced by gunmen to to drive them to another location after they took his money and cell phone.

At about 12:05 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 1, Arden Hall was in the 1100 block of Sixth Street Southwest when he was accosted by two males, according to the Moultrie Police Department.

“He was at a party,” police Sgt. Shavarye Anderson said. “They approached him with a gun and demanded money. They forced him to drive them to a home in Northwest Moultrie, where they got out of the car and took his cell phone.”

Hall, 20, told police that the men took $200 and his iPhone 5S, valued at $150. The area where the men got out was in the vicinity of Moultrie Housing Authority units possibly around Eighth Avenue and Ninth Street Northwest.

At about 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 30, Keithus Troupe, 32, was beaten and robbed by three men in the Packer Villa apartment area at Eighth Street and Second Avenue Southwest.

“They jumped on him and beat him while holding a gun,” Anderson said. “They stole $530 in cash from his pockets and a black ZTE smart phone valued at $45.”

Troupe was treated at the scene by paramedics but was not transported to the hospital, Anderson said. Hall was not injured.

Both cases remain under investigation.
