MOULTRIE, Ga. — A Colquitt County man who told police that he chased a man out of his residence after finding him hiding under a bed was arrested after an early Saturday morning confrontation.
Miranda Johnson, of the 1000 block of Holmes Drive, reported that the incident unfolded after the father of her children, who also lives at the residence, found a male visitor in her room.
The man got a knife and chased the visitor out of the house before turning to her with the knife, she told police, and then he slammed her twice to the floor. He also grabbed her neck, she said.
Johnson had red marks around her neck, police said, and her knees were skinned during the altercation.
The male resident told police that Johnson was hiding the man, who was not there when police arrived, under her bed and that he chased him into the bathroom and out of the house with the knife. He also pushed Johnson in “self defense” because she had a bottle, he reported.
Police took the man, who faces charges of battery and cruelty to children, into custody. Warrants had not been taken as of Tuesday.
