BHS girls use big second quarter to top Suwannee

LIVE OAK — Tori Suggs scored 13 points, Trinity Thomas had eight points and the Branford girls basketball team won the battle of Suwannee County for the second straight season with a 43-32 win at Suwannee High on Friday.
Trailing 14-10 after one quarter, the Buccaneers (10-2) grabbed the lead in the second quarter and never gave it back. BHS outscored Suwannee 13-2 in the second.
Thomas also had a team-high 11 rebounds while Rene Root added five points and five assists.
Suwannee’s Jasmine Jones had 15 points. Kalle Herring scored six of her eight points in the first period.
Cera McElreath scored seven points and had seven steals for Branford.
