UPDATE: Opportunities to give

Published 3:21 pm Saturday, December 16, 2017

The Christmas season has always been associated with giving to the less fortunate. Colquitt County is blessed with many ways for residents to help one another. Here are some that have been brought to The Observer’s attention.

• Midnight Thursday, Dec. 28, is the magic hour for NAMIWalks Southwest Georgia 2017. This is the hour that the website closes.  NAMIWalks is the annual fundraiser that enables NAMI Moultrie to continue the work of providing education and support groups at no cost to participants. A financial contribution provides critical support for individuals living with a mental health diagnosis and for their families.  For additional information, please contact NAMI Moultrie President Shannon Bell at shann.mbell@gmail.com, or 454-1668.

• The Christmas Love Project is entering its sixth year of providing for the less-fortunate in the community at Christmas. Over the past five years the project has been a blessing for more than 175 families, according to founder George Wallace. For more information, call Wallace at (229) 429-7867.

• The Emergency Relief Fund, administered by the Southwest Georgia Community Action Council, meets a wide variety of immediate needs for people who may not qualify for other programs. Contact CAC CEO Randy Weldon at (229) 985-3610.
